LEOMINSTER------Laura (Hansen) Allen 94 of Leominster died Thursday February 2, 2012 in the Life Care Center of Leominster after an illness.

She was born August 21, 1917 in Fitchburg MA the daughter of the late Jens Thomas and Anna (Pederson) Hanson both originally from Denmark .She attended school in Fitchburg, and lived there with her husband Francis Allen until 1957, when they moved to Leominster. She worked for several years at her husbands business the IGA Foodliner in North Leominster as produce manager. She also acted as a 4H Leader when her children were young. She happily followed the horse show circuit in Massachusetts when her daughter Karen competed.

She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She lived the last part of her life at the Life Care Center of Leominster. During her life at home, she acted as a supporting and loving parent usually allowing others to be the center of attention. At the Life Care Center she came into her own due to her quick wit and teasing style. She made many friends of the staff and residents. Her time there was very happy and she was well cared for by her aides and her nurses. A quick hug and words of encouragement from her care givers never ceased and we wish to thank them all.

She leaves her son Robert Allen and his wife Cathy of Ashburnham, four daughters; Martha Marrama and her husband Roger of Leominster, Claire Ferrera and her husband James of Leominster, Patricia Provencher of Maxwell New Brunswick Canada, Karen Hills and her husband Corey of Raymond New Hampshire; eight grandchildren, Anthony Marrama of Boston, Joseph Marrama of Cape Cod and Leominster, Lori Saucier of Gardner, James Ferrera of Leominster, Lisa Buckalew of Littleton, Jennifer Allen and Nicholas Allen both of Ashburnham and Brooke Provencher of Fredrickton New Brunswick Canada. She also leaves three great grandchildren. Laura especially enjoyed the visits she shared with her niece, Doris Prior and her husband Nate and their family of Carey North Carolina.

She was predeceased by her husband Francis Allen and by three brothers and three sisters.

Dearest Patricia and all of the family...I pass the homestead on Prospect St. often and always remember what a warm and welcome environment your home was. I remember learning to sew in the kitchen, with your mom as my instructor. For me, 4-H meant sewing lessons. I have been grateful throughout my life that I learned to sew, and have held some of those lessons in my heart and head for all of these years. Like "Dont hold the pins in your mouth...it might cause the fabric to rust," and "You dont need pull out so much thread as you finish a seam. It is wasting thread." I loved your mom, and her gentle ways. My thoughts and prayers are with you now as Laura transitions from this rich and full life to her next life. God bless you all. Extra, extra love to Patricia.
Sincerely...Dianne Tousignant
